Tech Audit

Digital connectivity Infrastructure is an indispensable part of modern-day business. Given the growing risk exposure, evolving security landscape, and stringent regulations, it has now become essential for senior living and LTPACs to strengthen and support their IT connectivity Infrastructure and performing a Tech Audit can help. It’s a process of technical evaluation that assesses the current status of your connectivity and network to gauge its performance.

What Is The Purpose Of A Tech Audit?

The Tech Audit ensures all connectivity systems are running optimally in accordance with your business needs and conform to current industry standards. Performing an Infrastructure Connectivity Audit is essential to maintain a stable and efficient IT connectivity infrastructure. The Tech Audit provides an in-depth analysis of the IT connectivity environment and gives further insight into what needs to be improved within the IT connectivity infrastructure.

The objective of the Tech Audit is to identify any inefficiencies and errors in the IT connectivity systems and fix the issues immediately. It is highly recommended to organizations that plan to update a project, begin a new assignment, assess the project efficiency, and identify errors in IT connectivity infrastructure operation or plan to outsource the IT infrastructure. There are five main areas of focus for your connectivity infrastructure which we’ve highlighted below.

1. Hardware Check During Tech Audit

IT infrastructure in many organizations often suffers from obsolete hardware that slows down systems along with the entire network. Even simple hardware replacement can result in sped-up processes that add value to the overall productivity. Such changes seem an added expenditure, but these upgrades go a long way and benefit the organization in the long term.

2. Signal Strength Wi-Fi

This consists of sampling the senior living Wi-Fi signal and relative signal strength. Sampling is done in areas that are covered by existing Wi-Fi and areas that have spotty or no signal. Find out more about what makes medical Wi-Fi the ideal solution for senior living facilities.

3. Signal Strength Cellular

Measuring signal strength is also part of a Tech Audit which involves measuring major carrier signal strength at various locations throughout the building and outside the building. This will help determine whether cellular boost technology is required to get a usable signal inside the building.

4. Connectivity and Cabling

This process includes looking at cable length, workmanship on cable terminations, and a sampling of the cable network and electrical characteristics. This will help determine whether the cabling is within the manufacturers’ specifications. Additionally, the physical environment is evaluated to determine a rough estimate of time and materials to correct any cabling issues and or bring old cabling plans to current industry specifications.

5. Network Configuration

This process evaluates the network setup. Switch configurations (including VLANS and routing) are evaluated from both a traffic throughput perspective and functional separation (VLANS). Also included in this process is evaluating direct Internet access for capacity issues.

Need A Tech Audit?

If your facility has not performed a recent evaluation of all of the above areas then it is certainly time to perform a Tech Audit! These evaluation areas are not only critical to ensuring that your daily operations are functioning at maximum efficiency but also safeguards your facility against any regulation violations that may be present.
